Apple Crisp
Filling
5 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for tart-sweet balance)
2 Tbsp butter
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
1/4 tsp ginger
1 tsp lemon juice
2 Tbsp water
1 tsp cornstarch
Topping
½ cup rolled oats
¼ cup flour
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ tsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
3 Tbsp butter
In a skillet, melt butter. Stir in oats, flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Toast until golden and crisp (5–7 minutes).
In another skillet, or same cleaned skillet - melt butter. Add sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, lemon juice, cornstarch and water.
Cook until apples soften and sauce thickens (about 8–10 minutes).
